Wrong city, wrong people, wrong time, a tired man at a well — and Jesus chose every bit of it on purpose. In John 4, Jesus "must needs go through Samaria," a region His people despised, to keep a divine appointment with a woman the world had written off.
The six movements
- Jesus goes where no one will go. Samaria, Sychar, a despised people — a divine appointment mattered more than reputation. And He sends us the same way.
- He meets you during your day. An ordinary errand became the encounter of her life. God isn't confined to Sundays.
- Faith involves vulnerability. "Go, call your husband" — He opens the one drawer she wanted closed, to free her.
- Failure doesn't determine your future. Five marriages had put a lid on her life; Jesus crossed a border to take it off.
- Get real, don't get religious. She deflected to a worship-location debate; transformation needs honesty, not trivia.
- Faith begins in worship. Not where — how: in spirit and in truth. Until the heart changes, the life can't.
