Who we are

This is the generation that seeks His face.

We're Jesus Generation, a Spirit-led, Bible-centered church family, rooted in Athens, Ohio, with a heart for the world. You matter to God, and you are loved.

Why "P246"?

Our name is a prayer

“This is the generation of them that seek God's face.”Psalm 24:6

P246 stands for Psalm 24:6. It's where our name comes from, and it's who we want to be: a Jesus Generation. Not a generation marked by a birth year, but by a pursuit. People of every age who seek God's face in every part of life, and live boldly for Jesus because of it.

We stand on the grace of Ephesians 2:4–6: God, rich in mercy and great in love, made us alive together with Christ, even when we were dead in our sins.

Our pastors

Drs. Nana and Ethel Sefakor Boadum

Nana and Ethel lead Jesus Generation together, and they live in Athens with their children. Both were raised in ministry at Jesus Generation Ministries in Accra, Ghana, and their journey here is part of our story.

Dr. Nana Boadum

Nana was raised in the house of God. His faith was formed in the children and teens ministry his mother led, and by high school he was helping to teach it. He went on to coordinate the youth ministry and serve as executive pastor in Accra. He led When Children Pray, a prayer convention for children, along with camp meetings and crusades. He was ordained in 2014. The questions young people asked him about calling inspired his first book, Can God Use Me? He also wrote The Invisible Gem, a children's book that carries the same message for young readers.

Nana holds a PhD and a master's in information and telecommunication systems from Ohio University, and an MBA from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. He is a strategic learning architect and education consultant for higher education, and the founder of ExceedXD, a learning design studio. Faith is the foundation of all his work, not a separate part of it. He still believes what he learned as a boy in Sunday school: God can use anyone who says yes.

Dr. Ethel Sefakor Boadum

Ethel was raised in the house of God too. She and Nana were in Sunday school together. In Accra she served in the youth ministry and in administration, including as administrative secretary to the senior pastor. At P246 she has built alongside Nana from the beginning, leading the children's ministry and guest experience, and caring for people through our care team: welcoming, hosting, and feeding.

People who serve with Ethel know her as diligent and remarkably resourceful. Whatever she takes on gets done on time, with excellence, and with her heart in it. She sees angles others haven't thought of and cheers people on. She has a deep compassion for people: she welcomes them home and shares what she has.

Ethel holds a PhD in Instructional Systems Technology, and master's degrees in Spanish and in international studies. She speaks about seven languages, including Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese. She has taught Spanish from grade school through the master's level, and she designs learning programs for universities. She also created a growing animated YouTube series that teaches children Spanish, which she began for her own children.

Our pastors are supported by ministry leaders who oversee each of our serve teams, from worship and prayer to children's church, care, and outreach.

Our story

We didn't just arrive. We were raised.

  1. Our roots · Accra, Ghana

Pastors Nana and Ethel grew up, were discipled, and served at Jesus Generation Ministries, our mother church. We remain under the spiritual covering of Rt. Rev. Dr. Nana Anyani-Boadum and Rev. Mrs. Comfort Anyani-Boadum. That's why we carry the name: we are Jesus Generation.

  2. 2016 · Athens

Nana and Ethel came to Athens for graduate study, already carrying God's call on their lives.

  3. 2020 · The call takes shape

The sense to start something here and build it forward grew clearer. We began with online gatherings to pray, study the Word, and worship.

  4. 2022 · A campus fellowship

God gave us Psalm 24:6, and with it our name. We began gathering as a fellowship at Ohio University. Those were hidden years, when God was forming who we are.

  5. 2025 · A church for the community

We opened our doors to the whole community at 726 East State Street. A fire was lit, and a culture took shape: worship, family, excellence, generosity, and discipleship.

  6. Today · On our way to a thousand

People from many backgrounds, cultures, and generations call P246 home, and we're just getting started.

Where we're going

Rooted in Athens. Sent to the world.

Athens is where we started, but it isn't where our story ends. Jesus gave His followers a map: “You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

  1. Our cityAthens. Like the first disciples who “filled Jerusalem” (Acts 5:28), we long to fill our city with the gospel.
  2. Our regionSoutheast Ohio, with its campuses, towns, and families.
  3. The unfamiliar placesLike Jesus going through Samaria, we go where people wouldn't expect a church to show up.
  4. The ends of the earthThe nations, through prayer, missions, new churches, and a generation sent out.

#OnOurWayToAThousand

Every number is a person.

"A thousand" is our way of refusing to think small: lives touched, families restored, campuses awakened, and the gospel carried to the ends of the earth.

“A little one shall become a thousand.” Isaiah 60:22

What we believe

Anchored in God's Word

We believe the Bible is God's Word, that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that salvation is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Read our beliefs
  1. The Bible. God's inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word, our final authority for faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21
  2. The Trinity. One God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
  3. God the Father. Eternal, sovereign, all-powerful, perfectly holy, and loving. Isaiah 40:28; Romans 8:15
  4. Jesus Christ. Fully God and fully man. Born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in glory. John 1:1, 14; Luke 1:35; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:11
  5. The Holy Spirit. He convicts, regenerates, indwells, and empowers believers, and gives spiritual gifts for holy living and effective ministry. John 16:7–13; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22–23; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11
  6. Humanity and sin. Every person is created in God's image, yet all fall short through sin and need salvation. Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23
  7. Salvation. By grace alone, through faith in Christ's finished work. It cannot be earned. Ephesians 2:8–9; John 3:16; Romans 10:9–10
  8. Spiritual warfare. Satan is real and was defeated at the cross. Believers resist him through faith, God's Word, and the Spirit. 1 Peter 5:8–9; James 4:7; Colossians 2:15
  9. The Christian life. We're called to live holy lives, walk in the Spirit, use our spiritual gifts, make disciples, and glorify God. Galatians 2:20; Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 12:1–2
  10. The Church. The Body of Christ, called to unity, love, and mission. 1 Corinthians 12:12–14; Ephesians 4:11–13
  11. Baptism and Communion. Water baptism by immersion, and the Lord's Supper, as acts of obedience and remembrance. Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
  12. Our future hope. Jesus will return, the dead will be raised, believers will live eternally with God, and unbelievers will face eternal separation. 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 20:11–15; John 14:1–3
