Life is not fair — and blind Bartimaeus proves it. No backstory, no advantages, begging by the Jericho road. In this message from our Faith series, Pastor Nana Boadum opens Mark 10:46–52 and traces how one man turned an unfair situation into an opportunity through the working of his faith.
The eight movements
- Life is not fair. The world is broken by sin (1 John 2:16; James 4) — but faith is the only way to level the playing field.
- You have something. Bartimaeus couldn't see, but his hearing was sharp. Audit what's in your hand instead of hiding behind what you lack.
- Faith works through knowing Jesus. Not "Jesus of Nazareth" — "Jesus, Son of David." Revelation knowledge gets His attention.
- Expect opposition — cry out the more. The crowd said be quiet; he raised the volume (James 5:16).
- Jesus notices faith. "So Jesus stood still." God responds to faith (Hebrews 11:6).
- Throw aside the garment. The old identity, security, and paycheck can't sustain the new level. It's not doubt that stops us — it's the pursuit of clarity.
- Be specific. "What do you want me to do for you?" Name the outcome — and don't put God in a box about how.
- Follow Jesus on the way. After you receive the things, don't forget the Giver of the things.
