When word spread that Jesus was in the house, so many gathered that there was no room at the door — and four men, carrying a paralyzed friend, refused to be stopped. They tore open the roof, lowered the bed, and Mark says Jesus saw their faith. In this message Pastor Nana Boadum shows that faith becomes visible when confidence in God is joined to compassion for people — and then walks through the four kinds of helpers God places in every life: introducers, encouragers, interpreters, and financiers.
The seven movements
- When they heard He was in the house, they gathered. The crowd at Capernaum pictures our Together services: when the word of God is treasured, people gather — and there is still room in God's house and God's kingdom for more (Mark 2:1-2).
- Faith is confidence in God's character, word, and promises. Trust that God is not a man that He should lie; faith is the substance of things hoped for, real enough to be seen like a receipt in your hand (Hebrews 11:1).
- Compassion turns faith into action. Confidence in God plus compassion for a friend is what carried the paralytic to Jesus. Jesus "saw their faith" — faith made tangible by love that inconveniences itself, like the midnight friend of Luke 11.
- Introducers: may yours not forget you. The butler forgot Joseph for two full years, yet God's providence made the delayed introduction land at the perfect moment before Pharaoh; Andrew brought Simon to Jesus not knowing he was delivering the rock (Genesis 40–41; John 1:41-42).
- Encouragers: helpers of your joy. Jonathan found David in the wilderness — findable by a friend, hidden from Saul — and "strengthened his hand in God," reminding him of the prophecy over his life. On the evil day, an encouraging voice is the difference between standing and doom (1 Samuel 23:14-18; 2 Corinthians 1:24).
- Interpreters and financiers. Interpreters bring clarity and strategy to your dreams, like Joseph before Pharaoh; financiers fund the assignment, like the women of Luke 8 who provided for Jesus from their substance and the Shunammite who built the prophet's chamber (Luke 8:1-3; 2 Kings 4:10).
- Grace for the humble — and more than conquerors. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble; carried alone the load is heavy, but grace plus community makes the outcome exceed the input. Whatever hit you — failure, rejection, the verdict — something at work in you makes you more than a conqueror through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37).
Walk away with this
Be a helper, and pray for your helpers: that your introducer will not forget you, that an encourager finds you on the evil day, that interpreters bring clarity, and that no God-given dream is buried for lack of resources. Your faith can be seen — when you put it to work for someone else.
