False Foundations That Block Generosity (1st Service)

Dr. Nana Boadum · Acts 20:35; Matthew 6:25-34; Matthew 10:29-31; Luke 12:6-7

Opening March's month of generosity and giving, Pastor Nana Boadum lays kingdom foundations before any teaching on giving begins. The position of blessedness is the position of the giver — but false foundations block that life, and the first to be dismantled is worry and fear. The cure is a revelation: God is my heavenly Father, and I matter to Him down to the numbered hairs and the free fifth sparrow.

The seven movements

  1. The position of blessedness. "It is more blessed to give than to receive" — the giver is more blessed than the receiver, which is why we can never outgive God. One gives freely and grows richer; the withholder tends to poverty (Acts 20:35; Proverbs 11:24).
  2. False foundation #1: worry and fear. Before generosity can flow, "do not worry" must be settled. Worry about food, drink, and clothing is the Gentile way; the kingdom way starts with "your heavenly Father knows" (Matthew 6:25-32).
  3. The revelation that dismantles it: God's fatherhood. The birds neither sow nor reap, yet the Father feeds them — and you are of more value. Receive it personally: I have a heavenly Father who loves me and cares for me, so I should not worry (Matthew 6:26).
  4. Take no thought — saying. The thought may come, but it doesn't have to leave your mouth. Kingdom people speak the invisible reality over the visible one: expectation of God's goodness, not rehearsed stress. Your confession builds either a cage or a path (Matthew 6:31).
  5. Personalize the love. John called himself "the disciple Jesus loved"; the Shepherd calls His own sheep by name. Not a blanket offer — God speaks to you uniquely, and the very hairs of your head are individually numbered (John 10:3; Matthew 10:30).
  6. The fifth sparrow. Two sparrows for one coin; five for two — the fifth thrown in free, worthless to the seller. Yet not even the free one falls to the ground outside the Father's will. If He watches the discount bird, how will He forget you? (Matthew 10:29; Luke 12:6-7).
  7. Communion — "not a hair on your head will perish." From Paul's storm in Acts 27: after two anxious weeks, "eat something, for not a hair on your head will perish." The table seals the word: we are marching through March preserved, provided for, and worry-free (Acts 27:33-34).

Walk away with this

Before you ever give a dollar, dismantle the worry. Write the affirmation where you'll see it — "I have a heavenly Father who loves me and cares for me" — and let your mouth agree with heaven's reality. The second service continues with the remaining false foundations.

The Position of Blessedness

Acts 20:35 · Proverbs 11:24

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." The giver stands in the more blessed position — which is why we can never outgive God, the greatest Giver of all. Begin the month of generosity by asking: where has receiving quietly become my aim?

Pray: Father, move me into the position of blessedness — make me a giver like You.
