Through Hosea's marriage and the prodigal son, Pastor Nana Boadum preaches the relentless covenant love of the Father — the God who pays off His bride's debts, teaches Ephraim to walk, and runs down the road to kiss a returning son before the repentance speech is finished. The names of Hosea's three children become God's own reversal: independence broken, the unloved loved, the outsiders made His people.
The seven movements
- Hosea's marriage is the message. Twenty-five years of prophetic ministry framed in one scandalous command: marry Gomer, buy her back from her lovers, love her faithfully — a living picture of God's covenant love for an unfaithful people, perfected when God did not withhold His own Son (Hosea 1-3; Romans 8:32).
- The charge: no knowledge of God. Not information about God but experiential relationship — "there is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land." Do you know about God, or do you know God? (Hosea 4:1).
- Going down to Egypt. Israel's rebellion was misplaced trust — running to Assyria and Egypt for help instead of returning to the Lord. Whenever we seek our security apart from God, Scripture says we are "going down," however advanced it looks (Hosea 5:13; 7:11; Isaiah 31:1).
- The Father who taught you to walk. "I taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by their arms… I drew them with cords of kindness, with bands of love, and stooped and fed them" — sustenance so constant we don't even notice it (Hosea 11:3-4).
- The far country and the Luke 15:17 moment. The prodigal demanded independence, joined the citizens of a famine country, and discovered that no one gave him anything. Everybody needs the moment he came to himself: "I will arise and go to my father" (Luke 15:11-19).
- The Father runs. While he was still a great way off, the father ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him — the robe, the ring, and the party arrived before the repentance speech could finish. "How can I give you up, Ephraim? My heart churns within me" (Luke 15:20-24; Hosea 11:8).
- Three names reversed. Jezreel — I will break your independence; Lo-Ruhamah — in the place called "not loved," I will show love; Lo-Ammi — where it was said "not my people," they will be called sons of the living God. As many as received Him, He gave the right to become children of God (Hosea 1:2-11; John 1:12).
Walk away with this
If you've wandered to a far country — or just quietly transferred your trust to Egypt — come home. The Father is watching the road, the party is ready, and in the very place you felt forsaken He is pouring out love. You matter to God.
