The Thief and the Giver of Life

Dr. Nana Boadum · John 10:10; Mark 5:1-20; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20

From John 10:10, Pastor Nana Boadum sets two figures side by side: the thief who steals, kills, and destroys, and the Giver of abundant life. The demoniac of Mark 5 shows both at full strength — a life wrecked by legion, then delivered in a day and sent home as a witness who moved ten cities. Saved people are saved to save others.

The seven movements

  1. Two agendas over every life. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; Jesus came that we may have life more abundantly. Every story in the room sits between those two sentences (John 10:10).
  2. Saved into ambassadorship. Anyone in Christ is a new creation — and God immediately gives the reconciled the ministry of reconciliation. God is still writing His redemption story, and He pleads through us (2 Corinthians 5:17-20).
  3. Multitudes in the valley of decision. Joel's multitudes become Isaiah's nations flowing to the mountain of the Lord's house when we partner with God's burden: He is not willing that any should perish (Joel 3:14; Isaiah 2:2; 2 Peter 3:9).
  4. The commission and the theme verse. Go into all the world; the Lord works with the movers and confirms the word with signs. Therefore — knowing our final victory — be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (Mark 16:15-20; 1 Corinthians 15:58).
  5. What the thief does to a life. The Gadarene lived in tombs, unchainable, crying out and cutting himself — legion within. That is the enemy's full program for a person, a family, a nation (Mark 5:1-9).
  6. What deliverance exposes. The demons negotiated to stay in the country; the townspeople, counting 2,000 drowned swine, begged Jesus to leave — preferring economic gain to a delivered neighbor. Yet the freed man begged to join the Jesus train, and Jesus said no: "Go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you" (Mark 5:10-19).
  7. One man, ten cities. With no seminary and no strategy but a testimony, he proclaimed in Decapolis what Jesus had done — and all marveled. Your testimony doesn't need a near-death experience; it needs an open mouth. Can't you do a little more for the Lord? (Mark 5:20).

Walk away with this

You were delivered for a purpose and placed where you are on assignment. Fill the house: bring your one, keep texting your Andrew 7, and tell what great things the Lord has done for you — ten cities can hang on one testimony.

Two Agendas

John 10:10

Over every life hang two agendas: the thief's — steal, kill, destroy — and the Giver's — life, more abundantly. Whatever you're facing today, name which agenda it belongs to, and refuse to credit the thief's work to God.

Pray: Jesus, Giver of life, I renounce every work of the thief over my family — I choose the abundant life You came to give.

Take it with you
