One of the Greatest Desires of God

Dr. Nana Boadum · 2 Peter 3:9; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20; Philippians 2:5-8; Mark 1:14-15

Nov 23, 2025 — a year-end alignment check from Dr. Nana Boadum, returning to the message that opened the year: God's greatest desire is for the unsaved to be saved and for the saved who continue in sin to repent (2 Peter 3:9; Ezekiel 33:11). The service is also where the chorus of "The Time Is Now" was first sung — the Mark 1:14 call-and-response ("John was put in prison / Jesus came to Galilee preaching") breaking out live, drums and all.

The seven movements

  1. The desire of God. It is not God's desire that any should perish; He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. As the year wraps up, the question is whether we are aligned with what matters most to Him (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4; Ezekiel 33:11; 18:23).
  2. One blood, one problem, one answer. All humanity shares the sin problem inherited from Adam — "in sin my mother conceived me" — and only the sinless blood of Jesus, which "speaketh better things," could atone for it (Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23; Acts 17:26; Hebrews 12:24).
  3. The ministry of reconciliation. Saved people are saved to save others: God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself and has committed to every believer — no title required — the word of reconciliation, making us ambassadors through whom God pleads (2 Corinthians 5:18-20; Romans 10:14-17).
  4. Pleasing men or pleasing God? Paul's test from Galatians 1:10: many believed but would not confess Him because they loved the praise of men — or simply feared them. We become experts at analyzing why we shouldn't obey, while the Father's heart bleeds for the lost (Galatians 1:10; John 12:42-43).
  5. Now is the time — not after the next milestone. After the degree, the job, the mortgage, the empty nest, there is always another "after." Give God the best of your years: "I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day" (John 9:4-5; 1 Timothy 4:8; Mark 10:29-30).
  6. The mindset of Christ. In the kingdom everything is inverted — the way up is down. Let this mind be in you: no reputation to protect, the form of a bondservant, obedience to the point of death. That is the mindset that takes a church on its way to a thousand, gathering and teaching house by house (Philippians 2:5-8; Matthew 16:25; Mark 9:35; Luke 22:26; John 13:14-15).
  7. John was put in prison; Jesus came to Galilee preaching. Jesus discerned the moment: what looked like a family tragedy was the signal to move. The honorable-looking responses — the solidarity visit, the fundraiser — were not the assignment. Know the times, and let even disappointment be the trigger that moves you deeper into purpose. The church erupts into the chorus that became "The Time Is Now" (Mark 1:14-15).

Walk away with this

Audit your days and your motives before the year ends. The time is fulfilled, the field is ripe, and you are the answer to the prayer for laborers: no reputation, a servant's form, eyes open for the sign that says move — because John was put in prison, and Jesus came to Galilee preaching.

The Father's Desire

2 Peter 3:9 · Ezekiel 33:11

God is not willing that any should perish. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked — His heart bleeds for the lost person to come home. Begin the week by letting His greatest desire become yours.

Pray: Father, align my heart with Yours — give me Your burden for the one who is still lost.
