Pray from a Place of Authority

Dr. Nana Boadum · Luke 10:19; Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 1:18-23; Ephesians 2:5-6; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Colossians 2:15; Colossians 1:12-13; Romans 5:17

Luke 10:19 · Preached by Dr. Nana Boadum · May 11, 2025 (Mother's Day)

A Mother's Day service wrapped around the word — flowers and a "Sweet Mother" serenade before, an interactive celebration after, and in between a focused continuation of The Believer's Authority: because you are seated with Christ, prayer stops sounding like begging and starts sounding like a decree.

The seven movements

  1. The recap — authority is your portion. Luke 10:19 remains the key text: "I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy." Like the officer whose lifted hand stops traffic because of the seal of the government behind him, the believer stands on the battle front of life knowing the blood has bought them and the Holy Spirit fills them (Matthew 28:18).

  2. The source of the authority — resurrection power. Ephesians 1:18-23: the power toward us who believe is the very power that raised Jesus and seated Him far above all principality, power, might, dominion and every name — with all things under His feet, and Him as head over the church, His body.

  3. Together with Him — don't separate yourself. Ephesians 2:5-6: He made us alive together, raised us up together, seated us together in heavenly places. He died for you and with you; you rose with Him from condemnation into the life where the Spirit rules. And this authority belongs to every member of the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-14) — he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

  4. The lease has expired. Our wrestle is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12), but Christ disarmed principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them (Colossians 2:15) — and whatever dominion Adam's treason handed to Satan, that lease expires the moment you are in Christ (Colossians 1:12-13). He cannot exert it over you any longer.

  5. Demand it — don't negotiate. "Until now you have not asked anything" carries the force of demand. Peter at the Beautiful Gate did not ask the man whether he'd consider getting up — "In the name of Jesus, rise up and walk." Pray from a place of authority: it changes even your language, from "please, can it?" to "I demand it — devil, get your hands off; this territory is a no-go area." Take territory for Jesus in your city, your family, your workplace.

  6. Faith seals the decree. When you demand in the Spirit, you demand in faith — and your faith is not in manifestations. Once the word has gone forth in faith, it is established, whether or not you see it change in that moment.

  7. Much more, we reign. Romans 5:17 — if death reigned through one man's offense, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through Jesus Christ. Don't face life like a loser hanging on a thin rope; your playbook is the Bible, and you are bound to reign.

The word closed with prayer — salvation, Operation Andrew demands for souls by name, and the grace to reign — before the service flowed into offering and the interactive Mother's Day celebration with gifts for the mothers.

Devotionals for the week

Carry this message through your week

Monday

The Source of the Power

Ephesians 1:18-23 · Luke 10:19

The authority you carry is not self-confidence — it is the very power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him far above every name. That is the seal behind the officer's lifted hand. Start the week knowing whose power backs your prayers.

Pray: Lord, open the eyes of my understanding to the exceeding greatness of Your power toward me.

Take it with you
